Eric attended the USC School of Cinematic Arts where his short Lights and Darks won the Preuss Scholarship, and his thesis film Orion Slave Girls Must Die!!! won top honors at First Glance Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley Film Festival, before securing distribution through Shorts International.

Before attending USC, Eric was one of the youngest writers for BBDO Detroit, where he worked on campaigns for Dodge and Chrysler.
